It is located at the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR), where it regulates the function of sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca 2+ -ATPase2a (SERCA2a). Dephosphorylated PLN tightly binds to SERCA2a and thereby inhibits SR Ca 2+ influx.
